Black Arts Council Manager in Berkshire County

Salary:  $35/hr

Schedule:  Mon-Fri, 25 hrs a week


Our Client is hiring a Black Arts Council Manager to lead the strategic direction and programs of the Organization. You will be supporting the organization’s mission to empower the Black community in the Berkshires. Working closely with the Executive Director, staff, and partners, the Manager develops initiatives that celebrate Black arts, support local artists, secure funding, and foster professional growth—requiring strong leadership, fundraising, and program development skills.


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:


Strategic Alignment and Planning

  • Report to the Executive Director and assist in aligning Black Arts Council initiatives with Organization’s overall organizational goals.
  • Contribute to strategic and improvement plans that advance Organization’s cultural and economic mission.
  • Coordinate joint initiatives with the Executive Director, Chief of Staff, Communications Coordinator, and Enrichment Navigator to identify synergies and ensure effective communication among stakeholders.


Program Development and Implementation

  • Collaborate with arts and cultural organizations to design inclusive programming that celebrates Black artists and artisans and fosters community engagement.
  • Facilitate workshops and training sessions that enhance the skills and capacities of artists and program cohorts.
  • Conduct one-on-one technical assistance meetings with artists, offering feedback and support for professional growth and documenting outcomes in Organization’s CRM system.


Artist Support and Certification

  • Increase Municipal Vendor Registration, COMMBUYS Registrations, and MBE documentation and certification of local artists to expand their opportunities in state and municipal procurement.


Fundraising and Grant Development

  • Develop and implement comprehensive fundraising strategies, including writing grant proposals and overseeing fundraising events to support the continuation and expansion of Black Arts Council programs.
  • Manage relationships with donors, foundations, and community partners to secure financial support.


Communications and Promotion

  • Collaborate with the Communications Coordinator to promote Black Arts Council events through Organization’s website, email communications, and social media channels.
  • Maintain updated and relevant content related to Black Arts Council programming across all Organization’s platforms.


Reporting and Analysis

  • Provide weekly and quarterly reports on programming, workshops, networking events, professional development, social media metrics, and outreach effectiveness.
  • Use data analysis to continuously improve program strategies and outcomes.


Team Leadership

  • Supervise and provide leadership to the Black Arts Council team, fostering a collaborative environment and ensuring successful delivery of collective goals.


Administrative Support

  • Assist with administrative tasks as required, including scheduling meetings, maintaining records, and supporting Organization-wide initiatives.
  • Perform other ad hoc tasks as assigned by the supervisor or Executive Director.
