Carpenter & Job Supervisor Job Opening in Berkshire County, MA

Pay:  $24-35/hour depending on experience
Hours:  Mon – Thurs, 7a-5p
Job Type:  Direct Hire

TEC is helping recruit for a Master Carpenter with a Southern Berkshire County contractor. This candidate would need to have a minimum of 20 years experience and be able to run a job at the work site by themselves.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Ensure all facets of a particular project are carried out to an above average level of quality
• Filling out daily job reports, duplicate work forms, disciplinary forms, material requisition forms and accidental forms
• Assigning all work in a timely manner
• Collecting prior week timesheets and all tasks involved
• Generate material orders in a timely manner
• Being available on the jobsite at all times and managing the crew
• Managing employees in all realms of employment
• Make sure that materials and methods are building code complaint 
• Perform periodic review of all employees, submitting forms and communicating comments to the head of the organization
• Checking in and verifying all lumber / supplies orders and door window orders upon arrival
• Reporting all accidents to the office, filling out all accident forms 
• Identifying extra work not specified in the current work description

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

• Interpret blueprints
• Capable of accurately determining site layout, grades and positions
• Able to square a foundation layout and set concrete forms & grades
• Familiar with basic building code requirements
• Capable of laying out wall assemblies, complex roofs and stairs
• Capable of laying out roofing and siding applications
• Capable of fabricating and installing metal flashing
• Capable of installing wood shingles
• Able to install all aspects or interior finish trim, including stairs
• Able to scribe and install cabinets / counter tops
• Capable of constructing onsite built-in fixtures / furniture and finish stairs
• Able to solve complex architectural drawing problems
• Capable teacher and socially appropriate leader
• Possesses a basic knowledge of most aspects of the work performed by a subcontractor 
• Capable of maintaining a professional relationship with customers and communicating any problems or suggestions concerning the company / client relationship with the organization
• Capable of scheduling all job-related tasks and employee assignments based on each employee’s ability level
• Capable of sharpening and basic repairs on power and hand tools
