Process Technician
Process Technician in Berkshire County
Salary: $50k-$85k (DOE)
Shift: 2nd shift, 2p-4a, Mon-Thurs.
Job Summary:
The Process Technician is responsible for the start-up, shut down, and troubleshooting of the molding process during normal production runs. In addition, setting up injection molding machines and all related auxiliary equipment to allow the manufacture of product that meets or exceeds the established quality levels at the standard rates that have been established
Essential Job Duties:
- Perform setup, startup, diagnosis and troubleshooting of the injection molding presses, all auxiliary equipment and all secondary production equipment while ensuring that safety and quality are the prime initiatives.
- Independently perform machine adjustments within allowable parameters, perform routine machine maintenance tasks and minor repairs on all production equipment.
- Documents and revises all setup process sheets as required. Logs any changes throughout an entire run on a given job on a process log sheet.
- Identify and recommend improvements and support all company continuous improvements activities. Work with plant leadership, set up and maintenance to implement improvements.
- Perform programming functions and troubleshoot robotics and automation systems.
- Assist with new mold samples and assist in the creation of full documentation on all processing parameters.
- Meets with the Shift Supervisor and other Process Technicians to discuss all issues relating to the shop floor.
- Assists the Shift Supervisor to ensure the part quality is understood and to ensure that only product that meets or exceeds quality criteria is packaged.
- Assist die setters and material handlers as assigned to ensure that the set-ups being performed are done properly, in a safe manner, as well as a timely manner.
- Review production orders scheduled to run on a daily and weekly schedule.
- Assist in identifying non-conforming product and re-work of non-conforming product as necessary.
- Document repairs as need on work orders requests for maintenance and tooling repairs as needed.
- Able to act as an interim supervisor
- Proficient in the fundamentals of Scientific Molding which includes gate freeze, viscosity curve, short shot studies.
- Act as a mentor and technical resource for other team members and new members learning technical functions.
- Work safely, following all safety policies and proactively participating in the safe work of others and the safety of the overall environment.
- Perform other miscellaneous support work to enable the team to be successful and as requested by plant leadership. Assist in the duties of other team members, including helping to cover break time.

Qualifications:
- Knowledge and experience with Scientific Molding concepts, able to perform gate freeze & viscosity curve.
- 5 years' experience with set-ups and troubleshooting in Plastic Injection Molding environment.
- Able to perform P.M. on production molds. (eg: mold cleans, basic insert changes, proper greasing of tools).
- Ability to operate forklifts, pallet jacks, electronic scales and other material handling equipment required.
- Ability to stand for long periods of time.
- Ability to lift or carry 35-50 pounds.
